We can explore any avenue of two-dimensional art that catches your interest and build your skills by making art pieces that you can be proud of!
Lessons are geared for one-on-one learning of any age or skill level where we’ll explore the elements to achieve the full scope of your ideal project. Each lesson runs for one hour and costs €50/each for new students and €40/each for returning students. Materials will be provided for beginners and a detailed list can be given to more advanced students for their exploration.
A SKILL AS A GATEWAY TO CRAFT
Drawing is a foundational skill. Meaning that once you have a grasp of the concepts, you can take them with you no matter what avenue of art you want to pursue. It’s honestly more about identifying how you see the world around you than perfect academic accuracy — there’s always more than one way to approach a drawing. Line, value, volume, and expressive mark making, these are just some of the tools we can use to explore your creative voice! It may sound silly, but once you’re comfortable with the concept of drawing everything that comes after will be that much easier!
NOT JUST FOR HOBBYISTS
Often thought of as a beginner or hobbyist craft, watercolor can be as rich and as complex as the subjects we aim to capture. Bright and vibrant in nature, it tends to have a mind of its own, but that unpredictability can lead to beautifully unexpected results! It’s definitely a medium that rewards patience, but it can be encouraged to cooperate (mostly) with a clever trick or two. One of the main benefits of watercolor is its portability — typically a setup can fit in a small shoulder bag or backpack which allows for lovely afternoons painting in your favorite cafe.
CENTURIES OF HISTORY
Favored for centuries because of its immense range and flexibility, oil painting is still a highly sought after skill. Capable of quick, direct painting through alla prima techniques or slower and more delicate indirect techniques such as glazing, oils allow you tailor the entire experience to your liking! A longer open time means the paints won’t likely dry before you’re done with them and can work (or rework) the surface of your painting even if it’s been a couple of days between sessions! Don’t have six months to wait for a painting to dry? Not a problem! There are even plenty of tricks you can use to speed things up while still enjoy their workability!
